When he set up Beechwood Trees & Landscapes in 1998, Simon Rotheram had a vision to build a business based on relationships with like-minded, driven people.
From the team members he employed to the suppliers that he chose, the common denominator was a focus on always striving for the best. It’s clearly proved successful as the company now has a team of 30 full-time staff and operates across the UK undertaking a mixture of housing association and local authority contracts, alongside site clearances and large-scale tree work.
When Beechwood recently decided to upgrade their woodchipper fleet, the same ethos Simon originally had when building the company came into play:

The company already had some Först diesel machines along with a couple from other brands, but were keen to introduce several lighter chippers across the fleet. After taking a Först ST6P on trial, Beechwood were sold on the machine given that it fit their main criteria of performance, residual value, and manufacturer support and aftercare. Most importantly, the ST6P outperformed competitor machines:
“We found the chipping capability better than the others we trialled in its class.”
In order to help Beechwood with a move to petrol machines, Först supported the company with sourcing and installing a petrol tank on site to allow for more efficient and controlled machine fuelling. Delivery of seven new ST6Ps, in custom Beechwood colours, took place this summer and the machines were put straight to work with the Beechwood team being busier than ever.
When asked to describe the sales process with Först, Simon responded:
